The Area Parish of the Saint Lawrence is home to three historic Anglican congregations along the St. Lawrence River.

Our Beginnings

The Area Parish of the St. Lawrence was officially created in November of 2018 by Bishop John Chapman of Ottawa. This decision followed a year of intentional collaboration among the congregations of Christ Church Seaway (Long Sault), Trinity Church (Cornwall), and St. John the Evangelist (Lancaster). Although our current parish organization may be young, our three congregations bring together a heritage of Anglican mission in Eastern Ontario that reaches back to the 1780s.

Our Present

Our congregations share together in the work and ministry of Christ in our region. As a newly configured parish, we are focused on strengthening partnerships and building new relationships inside and outside of the parish. As we travel together on this journey of faith, we pray that God’s love will continue to be revealed in our midst.

Our Future

We are looking for new ideas. We are waiting and praying on the Spirit of God to lead us into new ways of ‘being church’ in this region. This includes collaboration with other Christians, other faith traditions, and people without religious affiliations. Social justice and advocacy continue to be strong themes across our parish ministries. As we continue to discern our common vocation in this place, we know that we are only just beginning to imagine what God is calling St. Lawrence Parish to become as we grow together in God’s love.
