Lenten Book Study

Join us for this year’s Lenten Book Study! This year we’re reading former Archbishop of Canterbury Rowan William’s book Being Disciples: Essentials of the Christian Life.

Meetings are over Zoom and are held on Tuesday Evenings throughout Lent, at 7:00pm. A Zoom link will be provided closer to the time. Attendance is free and open to anyone, of course, but you will need to purchase your own book. Books are $15 and can be purchased either through the Trinity Anglican Church Office or directly through Amazon at https://www.amazon.ca/Being-Disciples-Rowan-Williams/dp/0802874320

The first meeting will be on Tuesday, March 11, at 7:00PM, and will run each week until April 15th.

“Discipleship,” says Rowan Williams in this companion to his best-selling Being Christian, “is a state of being. Discipleship is about how we live; not just the decisions we make, not just the things we believe, but a state of being.”

Having covered baptism, Bible, Eucharist, and prayer in Being Christian, Williams turns his attention in this book to what is required for us to continue following Jesus and growing in faith. The book has six succinct chapters:

  1. Being Disciples

  2. Faith, Hope, and Love

  3. Forgiveness

  4. Holiness

  5. Faith in Society

  6. Life in the Spirit

In his typically gentle, inviting, pastoral writing style, Williams offers biblically grounded wisdom for Christians at all stages of their journeys as disciples of Jesus.

Hard at work!

We've been busy around Trinity Church here in Cornwall! We sometimes joke that it's not a good sign when the paint on the wall is almost as old as the priest! Every day we are hard at work to bring a renewed sense of dignity to the campus we've dwelt on for 240 years, now! We do this in the hope that all who pass through our doors, for whatever reason, can know that this is a place of restoration. Stay tuned in the coming days and weeks to follow the transformation of our church!
