Community Engagement and Events
Christ Church Seaway hosts a variety of annual community events that are fixtures in the social calendars of Long Sault residents and their surrounding neighbours. Every event is an opportunity for fun, food, sharing, and laughter.
spring fish fry
Early in the summer, Christ Church Seaway hosts a community fish fry. This is a great opportunity to gather with neighbours for some fun, fellowship, and of course, an all-you-can-eat traditional fish and chips meal! Watch for advertising around town and online in the spring.
shrove tuesday
Before the season of Lent begins, Christ Church Seaway hosts a party! This pancake supper (served with real maple syrup, local sausages, beans, and dessert!) is a chance to indulge in some treats before adopting a more restrained approach to life for Lent. Everyone is welcome to join in the fun! The date for Shrove Tuesday changes from year to year. Watch for announcement in late winter.
summer chicken bbq
As the summer comes to a close, Christ Church Seaway invites the community to enjoy a BBQ feast! Locally sourced half chickens are cooked over a charcoal fire and served with all the fixings. Everyone is welcome to join in this neighbourhood tradition! Details are posted online and around town in late summer.
Mibisigi auction
This bazaar auction event is an entire season of Christmas shopping contained in one evening! Members of the community are invited to contribute home-made, home-baked, home-grown, and home-sewn goods to be auctioned at this event, with all proceeds going toward the church. The evening is as entertaining as it is practical! Everyone is welcome!
Blessing of the animals
We worship the God of all creation - that means the birds of the air, the creatures of the deepest sea, your livestock, service animals, and household pets! See our parish calendar for dates in September or October.
